I love introducing people to making their own simple syrups for drinks because it truly changes the game and steps it up to another level!

We’ve all used a prepackaged drink mix, but I find that they often come out overly sweet and with that weird chemical aftertaste. That same one we’d get when we were chugging Sunny-D in elementary school. But now, it’s a little...no thank you. 😬

You definitely don’t have to choose between convenience and a great tasting drink though!

This is where my mint simple syrup comes in! We’re only using three ingredients (and one of them is water) making it super fast and easy to prepare. You get the simplicity with the amazing refreshing hit of fresh mint that you just can’t replicate in a bottle. I add it to a little sparkling water for a quick NA spritzer or try my Frozen Mojito!

    Quick Tip!

    • Get yourself a fine-mesh sieve! It helps keep any fine mint particles from making their way into your simple syrup. I promise you’ll love it and find a million ways to use it!

The fresh mint brings all the flavor!

Some other recipes I’ve seen online use less mint, but cook the mint while the simple syrup is cooking. Absolutely not here. Doing that can make the syrup taste bitter.

So, when I tested this recipe, I used more mint, like double… and it’s so worth it!  We’re going to steep the leaves in the hot simple syrup. That keeps them from cooking too long but gives the syrup enough time to absorb all that minty goodness!

    Ingredient Spotlight!

There's only three ingredients in this super easy recipe, make sure to use the right stuff!

Two bunches of fresh mint next to a bowl of white sugar.
We're using fresh mint because we're worth it!
    • Fresh Mint
      • Fresh mint is a must have to get that bright mint flavor in the syrup. You’ll need about 2 bunches for this recipe. If you’re not going to be making the syrup right away, you can put the bundles of mint in water, just like flowers, to help them stay fresh.
    • Sugar
      • There’s a lot of different sugar options on the market today, but for this recipe and other simple syrups, like my Pumpkin Spice Syrup, you’re going to use regular granulated sugar. This will make sure it dissolves fully in the water when it’s heated and let's the mint flavor shine!

Let's make my super easy minty syrup!

I'm sure you can't wait to get this minty goodness into your life, let's make it!
