The best punch for Halloween parties

This spooky and boozy punch will get all of your guests talking at the Halloween party. Its green color and fruity taste make it practically impossible for your guests to resist. But when you safely add the dry ice block, there’s no keeping them away!

Despite the long ingredients list, this easy Halloween punch is quick to put together. You’ll find that each sip is bright and effervescent thanks to the variety of fruit juices, liquor, and melon liqueur. Welcome your guests with a glass and a Cinnamon Candy Apple and my Blood Splatter 7-Layer Dip and they’re sure to have the best time!

    Ingredients

You’ll find a little bit of everything here: fresh fruit, a mix of different tropical juices, and, of course, booze. This is what you need:

    Melon liqueur

One of the most popular brands of melon liqueur on the market is Midori. This Japanese muskmelon-flavored liqueur not only adds sweetness to the party punch but gives it its signature green color. If you can’t find Midori liqueur where you live, replace it with another brand of green melon liqueur instead.

    Fruit juices

I used pineapple juice, orange juice, and fruit punch. Freshly squeezed lime juice and lemon juice are a must because they help brighten up the recipe and cut through all of that sweetness.

    Simple syrup

Make your own simple syrup at home with a 1:1 ratio of white granulated sugar to water. Heat the two together in a pot on the stove until the sugar dissolves, chill, then bottle and enjoy.

    Pro Tip!

    • Yes, you can buy simple syrup premade at the store. I've actually done it a few times and it's great in a pinch. BUT... making it from scratch will save you money! So if you have time, make that simple syrup! 😜

    White rum and vodka.

Rum and vodka are both light and mild, pairing so well with the tropical mix in this punch. Using both will make it extra boozy but this is a flexible recipe. Feel free to use one type of liquor if you want.

    Sparkling water

Finish the punch with sparkling water or club soda for a refreshing and bubbly effect.

The safe way to use dry ice in punch

Dry ice has a really fun visual effect when it’s added to a punch bowl and won’t water it down like regular ice. The spooky-looking “fog” rolls out of the bowl, enticing your guests to come over for another glass! There are, however, many safety risks when using dry ice in the kitchen.

If you do want to use dry ice in this punch recipe, ready up on these safety tips first:

    • Do not touch it with your bare hands. Instead, wear gloves, use tongs, or use a large spoon. It can burn your skin or cause frostbite.
    • Do not consume it. Place one large chunk in the punch bowl (it will sink) or use these reusable stirrer swizzle sticks to safely put dry ice into individual glasses. The best option is to purchase dry ice pellets and put one or two pellets in each swivel stick.
    • After purchasing dry ice, put it in your car but keep the windows rolled down because the gas it releases (CO2) is dangerous.
    • Do not store dry ice in your freezer. Instead, keep it in a cooler.

How to make this spooky alcoholic punch!

There may be a lot to this party drink, but it’s surprisingly easy to put together! Here’s how it’s done:

A large glass punch jar filled with a muddy green colored liquid.
Step 1: Combine all of the ingredients into a large pitcher or punch bowl. If you're not serving it immediately, wait until serving to add the sparkling water and chill.
A large punch jar filled with a muddy green liquid and a white smoke billowing out of the top and around it.
Step 2: If using dry ice, carefully add it to the drink and serve over ice!

    Tips and tricks

Your spooky Halloween punch can get even better with these tips:

    Don’t forget the garnish

Boozy fruit punch always calls for fresh fruit! Garnish your punch bowl with fruit that matches the juices you used, like orange, lime, and lemon slices and frozen pineapple. You could also make a fruit-garnished ice ring to keep the punch cold and looking beautiful.

    Serve with dry ice

Either place one large chunk of dry ice in the punch bowl or have some on the side for serving. The large chunk will melt slower and prevent the punch from being diluted.
