Silky Smooth! Pumpkin Spice Syrup for Coffee & More!

Pumpkin Spice Latte lover? Then this homemade silky smooth pumpkin spice syrup must be in your life! It ACTUALLY tastes like pumpkin pie and is fantastic in coffee, cocktails and even drizzled over some vanilla ice cream. Once you try it, you’ll be making it every year!

Equipment

  • small saucepan
  • paper coffee strainer
  • fine mesh sieve
  • silicone spatula

Ingredients

  • 15 ounce can pumpkin puree Libby brand
  • 1 ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 cloves
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¾ teaspoon ground nutmeg freshly ground
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Pinch pepper freshly ground

Instructions

  • Stirring often cook pumpkin over medium-high heat in a small saucepan for 5 minutes, the puree will steam and bubble when not stirred at this point.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the remaining ingredients.
  • Return to medium-high heat. Cook until the mixture begins to steam and bubble around the edges, about 5 minutes giving it a couple stirs during the cooking.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Strain through a fine mesh strainer lined with a coffee filter for 15 minutes. Gently squeeze any excess syrup from the coffee filter.
  • Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to two weeks and use it in your coffee, cocktails, or drizzeled over some ice cream!
